About

Wind in your sails…waves of change.

My story.

Growing up in North Dakota, I had plenty of wind, but very few waves. Fortunately, my parents committed to providing opportunities for my sister and I to travel and experience the world beyond the great plains. From the very first moment my toes touched the Atlantic ocean, I fell in love with the waves. After many years living and traveling around the world, I’ve finally found that the waves I love the most are those lapping at the shores of Lake Superior. It’s not only the majesty of the world’s largest (by surface area) lake that makes Duluth #1 for me, it’s the many changes in life that I’ve weathered through to get here. From experiencing a natural disaster that tore about my home town and moving 2000 miles away to college, to learning that I’m pregnant with twins and my whole world is up in the air, I’ve always embraced change and leaned in to it for the positive….what else was a girl to do??? Deciding to start a business and throw myself wholeheartedly into the world of entrepreneurship…now what’s where things really got interesting.

In 2010, I founded Northland Special Events, a company built on the perfect combination of my talents and skills. At NSE, we specialize in producing well-planned, customized events that turn dreams into memories. I love weddings more than anything, but an epic surprise party or major corporate festival float my boat too. Working with a team of incredible women (and a few men too) has taught me more than I could ever dream about the power of people and shared purpose. Building a business is nothing but a series of highs and lows that you navigate through, often in the dark. After years of looking for help around every corner and yearning for someone or something to show me the way, I found coaching and the Mastermind experience. I’ll forever be grateful to Robin Rosenbaum, Meg Thoreson, Sandy Hanson-Wolff and my MoFo Mastermind gals for coaching me through countless tough decisions and guiding me towards my true zone of genius. I hope through facilitating Mastermind groups, I can inspire and breathe winds of change and joy in others too.

My childhood neighbor, loved to serenade me every time he saw me with a song from the musical, Paint Your Wagon, “They Call The Wind Mariah.” I’ll never forget the feeling of knowing that my name was synonymous with something as powerful as the wind - a force of nature a North Dakota girl knows well!
